Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SCS SB 69 -- CONVEYANCE IN JACKSON COUNTY

SPONSOR:  Shields (Pratt)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Corrections and Public Institutions by a vote of 8 to 0.

This substitute authorizes the Governor to convey state property,
currently used by the Division of Probation and Parole and the
Division of Employment Security, located in downtown Kansas City
to the City of Kansas City for the downtown revitalization
project.

The substitute contains an emergency clause.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the sale of this property is
very important to the Downtown Kansas City Revitalization Plan.
The city is going to relocate the Division of Probation and
Parole and the Division of Employment Security to a new location
at no cost to the state.

Testifying for the bill were Representative Pratt; and City of
Kansas City.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
